Sinus lift
A sinus lift is a bone grafting procedure that increases bone volume in the maxillary sinus area to allow implant placement. It creates space for the implant by gently lifting the sinus membrane and adding bone filler.
An incision is made in the gum to reach the jawbone, then a small opening gives access to the sinus. The membrane is carefully lifted and graft material — natural or synthetic bone — is placed in the space created. The gum is then closed and healing begins.
It allows patients previously limited to removable prostheses to benefit from implants and fixed teeth, improving their quality of life.
Bone grafting
Bone grafting increases bone volume using natural, artificial or synthetic bone. It is used to reinforce the stability of prostheses, repair bone trauma or correct defects caused by periodontal disease — mainly so that implants can be placed when the jawbone lacks the necessary dimensions.
Bone loss in the jaws often follows tooth loss, as the bone is no longer stimulated. In the upper jaw, the maxillary sinus can also expand into the space when back teeth are missing.
